Backing Up a Node-RED Project

As a good programming practice, save your Node-RED project regularly. There are seven steps to back up a Node-RED project.

1. Start your backup by opening a web browser on your computer, type https:// and the IP address or Hostname of your groov EPIC unit, and press Enter.

2. If you're not already logged in, log into your groov EPIC unit by entering your Username and Password.

4. From Node-RED, select Project Management.

The Project Files page appears.

5. Click on Download Project button.

Note: Flows and credentials will be backed up, but not the additional nodes you may have installed. For example, you probably installed groov View and PAC nodes, or possibly MSSQL or IBM-Watson external nodes. After you restore your flows, restore the missing nodes by referring to the lesson called Restoring Missing Node-RED Nodes

The Save File page appears.

6. Navigate to where you'd like to save the Node-RED project file on your computer.

Hint: Create a separate folder, such as NodeRedProject, to save your file.

7. Click Save to save your Node-RED project.
